The Two Sisters

The actual reason why we're in Eutin is because Astrid's sister, Claudia, had originally booked tickets for her and Astrid for the musical Hair at the open air stage in Eutin. But we'd already been thinking of a bike tour in Northern Germany, though originally this was planned for the West, North Sea coast. Over Easter, Kerstin who comes from North Friesland, made a convincing case against the wind and monotony of the West coast in favour of the post-glacial Baltic coast. As a result, I suggested to Astrid it might make sense to combine the two to reduce her travel to the area by two days.

Claudia had already booked a hotel for her and Astrid, so I had to arrange my own accommodation. I'm used to booking through various portals but the place I wanted in Eutin apparently wasn't available but I tried my luck and got through. Only to find out that all the open air shows had been cancelled!

I passed the message on to Astrid who passed it on Claudia who found the notification of the cancellation in her spam email - great job Google! 🙈

For us if didn't make much difference as I'd already bought the train tickets, but am strongly against the sunk costs fallacy. If it doesn't make sense anymore then get out and live with the costs!

Anyway, Claudia couldn't cancel the hotel and decided to come anyway. But instead of enjoying the musical, we took the bus to Haffkrug to enjoy the seaside!

Claudia goes home roughly tomorrow after which it's very much "on your bike!"😄
